Every area of the metabolism can be assessed and addressed with functional lab work.  Think of these lab tests as the way we will ask the body a question.  We have to ask the right question at the right time for best results.  I have been trained to understand what these different labs mean so I can help you choose the best ones for you so that you get answers!

If you are looking for something to add to your HTMA, I suggest starting with blood work and /or the Organic Acid Testing (OAT)  for best results, this gives me a very thorough look at both what is happening in your metabolism and why it could be happening.  Other tests can be added to your plan as needed.  Click on each test to see a drop down description of what the test is for.

Here’s a  LINK to my Rupa Store so you can self order most tests.  The store contains some of the labs I use the most to help people get results.  Don’t see what you are looking for? Contact me to ask.  I can order almost anything!

Please note that a consultation or coaching package is required to review lab work beyond the notes included.  All services are educational and not to be considered diagnostic.  These labs are not covered by insurance and they do require self pay.  Some labs are not available in all states, alternatives are available.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a novel way to assess and address mineral imbalances  and potential heavy metal toxicity in a non-invasive way.  Minerals are the building block for every function in the body,  making sure they are properly balanced makes everything work better.

Simply cut a small amount of hair near the scalp, send it to the lab with the intake form, and find out what supports you need to get rebalanced.

Please note that mineral balancing is a journey, most people need to retest every 60-90 days for about a year for best results.

Organic Acids Testing (OAT) is a simple, at home urine test that measures the levels of organic acids, amino acids, essential fatty acids, nutritional elements, and toxins in a person’s urine, which can provide insight into the functioning of their metabolism and potential imbalances in the body.

The OAT can give insight into why you are fatigued and have energy problems,  suffer from sleep issues, struggle with chronic pain, deal with gut and digestive troubles, as well as show if you are dealing with potential toxicities.  We will also get an idea of nutrient and vitamin status. Learning how to support your metabolism can help boost all of the body’s innate functions.

When your metabolism is working optimally, it can better manage whatever you may come into contact with.

This is an extremely comprehensive test and it gives me a lot of data to work with, this is why it is my favorite to start with.  You will simply collect your first morning urine and send it to the lab in a prepaid mailer.

Functional Blood Chemistry Assessment is a way of reviewing  blood work to discern if there are any patterns that could be leading to or causing symptoms.  This can be done on its own or done in conjunction with another lab for a complete and thorough evaluation of what is happening in your body and why it is happening.

Blood work has been around for a long time so there is a lot of history to back up the markers.  The problem is that the normal ranges have been adjusted over time to reflect the population that is being tested.  This means that today’s “normal” could have been an indicator of disease 10 – 20 years ago.  Functional blood chemistry assessment uses a much narrower lens to discover what is happening in your body.

I can design a custom lab panel, order the lab for you, and you can go to a local Quest for the blood draw.

I can also provide you with a list of markers to have your doctor draw, this option is frequently  covered by insurance, check with your plan administrator to verify benefits as I do not file claims.

Many people are plagued with gut and digestive issues.  The gas, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea you are experiencing can have different root cause issues, this is why it is so important to test and not guess to make sure you are self treating the right issue.

Gut function and health can be fully assessed with a stool sample.   The lab is looking for bacterial balance as well as potential pathogens and other compounds that can lead to inflammation and digestive issues.  The lab provides a collection kit and a prepaid mailer to return the sample.

A  saliva cortisol test will show if your body has enough of  the “get up and go hormone” at the right time of day.  You simply spit into a tube at several specific times of day, freeze, and return the samples to the lab in a prepaid mailer.

This test is especially helpful if you are dealing with fatigue and insomnia.  While it won’t show us the root cause it can be used to help determine what supports will be most helpful.

Hormone testing can help you understand your levels and how well your body is using them.

Dried urine testing can identify hormonal imbalances that can cause symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, hair loss,  mood swings,  PMS, fertility issues, autoimmunity, male pattern baldness, cystic acne, weight loss issues, and prostate issues.  Simply collect your urine on 4 different strips of paper at designated times, let them dry thoroughly, and return in the prepaid mailer.  Again, this is not a root cause test but  it can be used to help determine what supports will be most helpful.

If you know that you have been exposed to mold and want to see what your body is excreting this  simple at home urine test can help you discover which mold mycotoxins are being excreted.

This test does not show us how your body is reacting to the toxins, you will also need an OAT and / or bloodwork to learn what areas of your metabolism are affected.

Food is fuel! However, if you’re sensitive to something you’re eating, it can become a problem. Learning which foods may be causing you trouble can help take your health to the next level.

The KBMO FIT  is a finger stick kit, there is no required blood draw at the lab, making this very convenient. This test also includes the Gut Barrier Panel which can be very useful in determining if “leaky gut” is contributing to your health issues.
